CMS Revises SNFABN Form

Nancy Leveille and Carl Pucci in Clinical & Quality

CMS recently revised the SNF Notice of Non-coverage (SNFABN) form CMS-10055. This will replace the notice of exclusion from Medicare Benefits (NEMB-SNF), as well as the five existing SNF denial letters.

  • For Part A items and services, SNFs must use the newly revised SNFABN as the liability notice
  • For Part B items and services, SNFs must use the Advance Beneficiary Notice of Non-coverage (ABN), form CMS-R-131.

We are seeking further clarification regarding the intent of Option 2 and 3. Mandatory usage of the form became effective this past Monday, May 7, 2018.

Attached is the AHCA notice which provides further information and related CMS links.
