Passing of James Chambery

Stephen B Hanse in From the President

It is with sadness that we write to let you know that Greg Chambery’s father, James Chambery, passed away yesterday, November 19, 2019.

James and Judith Chambery owned the Maplewood Nursing Home in Webster, New York until 1998 when his son Greg took over operation of the business. Jim served on many NYSHFA committees over the 35 years of his committed service to our association. Those who knew and worked with Jim during his involvement with NYSHFA and in the nursing home profession knew of his commitment to improving quality and doing things correctly. Jim loved our profession and was a trailblazer in initiating some of the things that were unheard of at the time but are commonly found in skilled nursing facilities today. His peers would tell you that he never failed to tell you directly what was on his mind.

There will be a Memorial Service at the Browncroft Community Church, 2530 Browncroft Blvd., Rochester, NY  14625 on December 1st. The service will be at 2 pm. There will be no other visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations in his honor be made to the Rochester Christian School Foundation, 260 Embury Rd. Rochester, 14625 or the James and Judith Chambery Chair for the study of business ethics. Calvin University, 3201 Burton St. Grand Rapids, MI  49546.
